PROJECT TITLE: E-LEARNING (PMR ENGLISH)
Introduction:
Electronic learning or E-learning is a type of technology backed up education where the medium of instruction is via computer technology. The use of this technology to deliver course content and connect learners to resources to improves qualities of teaching and learning. E-learning suitable for distance learning and also flexible learning, since the separation of instructor and learner in space and/or time, so no face- to- face interaction takes place. Besides that, E-learning is used in a extensive and variety of contexts. Nowadays, E-learning has become one of the popular and convenient paths for people to gain their required and expected knowledge.
Problem Background:
E-learning has become more popular and usable in the world is because of cost saving from instructors and learners, time saving, consistent delivery of course content and it also can share different information and idea from the anywhere and anytime.
Besides that, E-learning is convenience and flexibility to learners. In many circumstances, E-learning is self-paced and the learning sessions are available 24 hours and 7 days per week. Learners are not compulsory to a specific day or time to attend classes. Likewise, they can also intermission learning sessions at their convenience.
In addition, the frequently problem that faced by learners particularly the teenagers is they unable to manage their time to study properly. This is because they lack of knowledge of time management, they not know how much time they should had spent while studying in a topic or a chapter. As a result, it will waste their time to study and also affect their academic performance.
Moreover, reading book is a quite boring job and it will make feel languid because it lack interactive particularly for students. Students will feel hard to gain more knowledge or philosophy deeply without interactive. The interacting in e-learning will make students feel more interesting because many examples are easily to found in the internet.
Furthermore, instructors would wasted their time to upload the latest course contents page by page. This work is wasted the time, cost, and human resources. The existing E-learning software should be a best solution to solve this problem.
Problem Statement:
Despite there have some problems faced by the instructors and learners for the E-learning but there still have some solutions for these problems.
The content is played the main roles for E-learning. When the requirement for the learners is high, the contents of the system should be more attractive to attract them and make them feel interesting on that subject. It will make learners feel boring and languid, if the content just showed by words. They would not visit the web page again. It can be added by some sound, video images, animation or flash to increase the absorbing content.
The time management is important for a person especially students. Some of the students always spent a lot of time in study but still cannot to memorize the main point; some of the students unable answer all the questions during test or examination. As a result, they cannot get a good result during test or examination. An E-learning system can help learner to count learners’ study time from starting till ending of the practice. It can improve the performance of the learners and let them realize that the important of time management. Hence they enable to manage their study time and the time to answering exam paper properly in the future.
Project Objective:
The project objective is to design an E-learning system. It is specifically for the students from form 1 to form 3 that taking PMR English subject.
The objectives of the project:
• To develop a well functional E-learning environment, which make ease for learners in their learning and studying.
• To allow more effective and good collaboration between the instructor and learner in the E-learning system.
• To build up attractive learning content and interface to attract learners thus they will interest in learning and studying.
Project Scopes:
The target user for the system is students from form 1 to form 3 that taking PMR English subject, this system will cover the form 1 to form 3 English courses, and just two modules will be picked from PMR English for Malaysia secondary schools syllabus as learning contents for this E-learning system, namely vocabulary and grammar. However, the sub-modules are LEARN, PRACTICE and TEST.
